Run and review a take-off

Start the take-off from the project page, then check every row against the drawing. Rows held for a check are marked, and the copy for your client stays a draft until each one is approved or corrected.

Run the take-off

  1. On the project page, choose Run take-off. It is ready once at least one drawing has uploaded.
  2. Under What to produce, pick Quantity only, Quantity + labour or Full priced. Quantity only is selected to start with. Prices come from your own rate card, which you set up under Rates.
  3. Under Pricing scope, you can set a drawing to Measure only, which measures it with no money added, or to Not in scope, which leaves it unread and uses no credit.
  4. Choose Start run. Each PDF file in the run uses one credit.
  5. The run carries on without you. Follow it on the Take-off runs tab, or close the page and come back later.

If a sheet is paused

  • Every sheet is checked before it is measured: what kind of sheet it is, and what is left out. A sheet that cannot be confirmed is paused, not guessed.
  • The run’s card on the Take-off runs tab says why a sheet stopped, and offers Retry.
  • If a drawing fails and no take-off comes out of it, its credit goes back to your balance by itself.

Review on the drawing

  1. When the run has finished, choose View results on its card.
  2. The rows sit beside the drawing, with each measured run drawn over it. Click a row to find it on the drawing.
  3. Check each row against the drawing. If it is right, choose Approve. If it is wrong, choose Correct and fix the length, size, service or scope.
  4. Anything the take-off missed, such as a valve, a fitting or a tank, can be added from More.
  5. Approve all is for a take-off you have already checked. Check every held row on the drawing before you use it.

Held rows and please-check lines

  • A row held for review says why, for example a size that could not be read or a scale that could not be confirmed. Check it on the drawing, then approve it or correct it.
  • While any held row is waiting, the copies for your client stay drafts. The buttons read Workbook (not issued) and Export take-off (not issued), and the tender pack opens as a draft.
  • Some sheets also show Engine checks on this sheet. Each line marked “Please check — not priced, not in any total” is a question for you to answer from the drawing. These lines are kept apart from the confident quantities and are never priced.
  • Nobody at Teastra checks a take-off before you see it. The figures are yours to check before you price or send anything.
