Upload a drawing

Create a project, then drop your mechanical PDF drawings on it, one at a time or as a ZIP. Uploading costs nothing and does not start a take-off.

Steps

  1. Sign in and open Projects. Choose New project, give the project a name and create it. Use one project for each tender or jobsite.
  2. You can drop the drawings into the New project box too. The project name and details are then read off the sheets’ title blocks, for you to check before you create it.
  3. On the project page, under Drawings, drop your PDF files on the upload box, or click the box to choose them. A ZIP of PDF files is unpacked for you.
  4. Bring the whole package if you like. The files upload one after another, and each one appears under Uploaded drawings once it is in.
  5. If the tender has an insulation specification, upload it under Project specification, as a PDF or a Word file. The next take-off follows its exclusions, and the material and thickness it gives for each service.

Good to know

  • Drawings must be PDF files, or a ZIP of PDF files. DWG files and images are not accepted.
  • Each PDF can be up to 50 MB.
  • A PDF with several sheets is split into one line per sheet, such as “sheet 2 of 5”, and each sheet is measured on its own. The whole file still uses one credit.
  • The Estimator reads drawings most fully when they were exported from CAD rather than scanned.
  • Uploaded a file you do not want measured? A drawing set to Not in scope in the Run take-off box is not read, and uses no credit.
  • There is no button yet to remove a single drawing from a project. Deleting the project removes everything in it.
