Can AI measure pipe insulation from drawings?
Yes. Teastra Estimator measures each pipe run on a PDF mechanical drawing along its centre line, to the drawing’s scale, and groups the metres by service and printed pipe size. Pipes are measured per linear metre. You check every row before you price it.
What it does today
- Where a pipe size is printed, the metres go under that size. A size that cannot be read is held for you to check, not guessed.
- Each service stays on its own lines, named from the drawing where the drawing names it.
- Pipes are measured per linear metre and ducts per square metre. The two are never added together.
- Where a pipe size is known, the materials schedule rounds pipe insulation up to whole packs.
- Labour and pricing are worked to your own rate card: your rates, your margins.
- It works from PDF drawings, and reads them most fully when they were exported from CAD rather than scanned.
What you still do
- You check each row against the drawing and approve it before you price anything.
