Can AI do ductwork take-offs?
Yes. Teastra Estimator reads a PDF mechanical drawing, measures each duct run to the drawing’s scale, reads the duct size printed on it and works out the square metres for insulation, size by size. You check every row on the drawing before anything goes to a client.
What it does today
- Ducts are measured per square metre: the bare duct girth times the measured length.
- Each service stays on its own lines, named from the drawing where the drawing names it.
- The measured take-off is laid over the drawing, so you can see what was measured.
- Where a size or a run is unclear, the row is held for you to check rather than guessed.
- A drawing usually takes minutes, then your own check. That is not a promised return time.
- It works from PDF drawings, and reads them most fully when they were exported from CAD rather than scanned.
What you still do
- You check each row against the drawing and approve it. Nobody at Teastra checks it first.
